About the JETAA Job Bank

The JETAA Job Bank is a part of the JETAA (Japan Exchange and Teaching Alumni Association) network of volunteer-supported sites on the Internet. Employers may post job openings free of charge. After perusing the following information about the JET Program and JET Alumni candidates, please register your company, and then feel free to enter a Company Profile and start posting jobs!

What is the JET Program?

The JET Program is a cultural exchange program sponsored by the Japanese government. Most of the alumni visiting our web site have held one of two positions: (1) Coordinator of International Relations, working in the offices of local governments, and (2) Assistant Language Teacher, assisting with language instruction in public schools. Profile of JET Alumni

All alumni of the JET Program have two things in common: they are college or university graduates, and they have worked in Japan for the Japanese government for a period of 1-3 years. Most of the visitors to this web site are from the (large) subset of alumni who are native English speakers, mainly recruited from Canada/U.S., Ireland/U.K., and Australia/NZ. In addition to their individual education and work experience, JETAA candidates in general also can claim:

university education, and perhaps graduate studies
proven communication and presentation skills
public relations and/or writing experience
experience in a multicultural workplace
knowledge of Japanese culture
some degree of Japanese language skills (if you wish to recruit candidates with proficiency or fluency in the Japanese language, you may consider specifying a certain level of achievement on the Japanese Language Proficiency Test or the JETRO Business Language Proficiency Test)
in many cases, an additional degree of maturity as a result of living and working in a foreign country
